A Training-Workshop on understanding 1:10,000 Scale Geohazard Maps was conducted by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)-Geology Division at the Palacio De Laoag City, Ilocos Norte in October 18-19, 2016. The MGB together with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Ilocos Norte, have determined to accommodate the officials of the municipalities and cities of the province. Moreover, representatives of each barangays are most encouraged to attend; as they are the direct addressee of the activity.


The participants came from the 1st and 2nd District of the province. The 1st District includes the Municipality of Adams, Bacarra, Bangui, Carasi, Dumalneg, Burgos, Pagudpud, Pasuquin, Piddig, Sarrat, Vintar and Laoag City. The 2nd District includes the Municipality of Badoc, Dingras, Marcos, Pinili, Nueva Era, San Nicolas, Solsona, Banna, Currimao and City of Batac.

The turnover of Geohazard maps and Geohazard posters of the MGB to the different participants of each barangay of Ilocos Norte.


This National Geohazard Mapping Program by the MGB- DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) aims to promote pro-active participation of the Government and its people in the awareness of geohazards in each respective areas; taking into consideration that the Philippines as a whole is considered to be one of the most disaster- prone country in the world.


The program consists of the Geohazard Map Appreciation, Distribution of the Maps to Different Barangays; discussion and presentation on Landslide Hazards, Flood Hazards, and Coastal Hazards; And an open forum to answer the concerns of the participants.
