MGB Regional Office No. 1 geologists attended the Workshop on Quadrangle Geological Mapping of Bicol Region held last February 6 – 10, 2017 at Ninong’s Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay. The geologists who attended were Mr. Socrates G. Gaerlan (Chief Geologist), Ms. Zipporah Seth A. Oliveros (Geologist II), Ms. Marie Rose B. Aguda (Geologist), and Ms. Charlene Gem L. Farro (Geologist). The said event focused on the finalization of 1:50,000 scale geologic maps of Region III and standardization of field mapping methods and outputs, and encompassed a series of comprehensive lectures on the geology of CALABARZON and Bicol Region, quadrangle map generation, field mapping techniques and photogeology.

It also involved a two-day fieldwork in Albay. After the fieldwork, participants were given a chance to visit Cagraray Eco Park, Cagsawa Ruins, and Lignon Hill. The workshop was attended by a total of 85 geologists from MGB Central and Regional Offices. Regional Director Engr. Guillermo A. Molina, Jr. IV of MGB Region 5 graced the event with his presence.

MGB-1 geologists participated in the Aerial Photo Interpretation Exercise Using Fieldwork Site Photos

Participants from MGB CO and Regional offices conducted a two-day fieldwork on areas with good exposures of outcrops and notable structural features in Pio Duran, Ligao and Bacacay, Albay.
