ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – Showcasing the region’s premier Science and Technology researches and services the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 1 held its annual Science and Technology week at the Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center last September 18-21, 2018. Along with this, interactive exhibits and trainings on technology-aided entrepreneurship were showcased as well. With the theme Science for the People: Innovation for Collective Prosperity, the S&T Week aimed to give the public a unique experience on how science and technology works for a better life.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau I participated in the said endeavor in various events such as the presentation of appropriate technologies during the technology fora, press conference and bazaar for DOST-assisted MSMEs. Participants from MGB-I attended the interactive exhibits and forum on how to improve the Bamboo Industry specifically on Bamboo Dyeing, Preservation and Engineered Bamboo and Forest Products Research and Development Institute’s (FPRDI) Services for Forest-Based Industries.

Also, the Philippine Standard Time (PST) was synchronized in city by the DOST in partnership with the local government of Alaminos in the said event. This information campaign which they called “Juan Time” promotes the value of time and developing respect for time of others. This in pursuant to Republic Act No. 10535 or the Philippine Standard Time Act of 2013. ###
