SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Joining the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region I (DENR-I) and Environmental Management Bureau Region I (EMB-I), the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region I (MGB-I) celebrated DENR Family Day and its 32nd Anniversary last June 11, 2019 at the Saint Louis College Gymnasium, San Fernando City, La Union.
 
The DENR anniversary recalls back to the creation of Executive Order No. 131 on January 30, 1987 and the issuance of Executive Order 192 on June 10, 1987 better known as the "Reorganization Act of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources" brought a radical shift in the Department's structure and functions. Pursuant to the Executive Order, the DENR became the primary government agency responsible for the conservation, development and optimum use of the natural resources as well as the protection and development of a sustainable environmental management system for the benefit and welfare of the Filipino people.
 
This year’s anniversary theme Beat Air Pollution is in line with the theme of the United Nations for World Environment Day which shall urge governments, industry, communities, and individuals to come together to explore renewable energy and improve air quality.

The family day highlighted fun activities for the DENR,EMB and MGB employees. This included parlor games, the Search for the Ginoo and Binibining Kalikasan 2019 and DENR-1 Got Talent 2019.

The said pageant was one of the highlights of the Family Day where each team cheered for their respective representatives who showcased not just beauty and intelligence but also their concern for Mother Earth in the creative and question and answer portion. And among the 6 contestants from the Management Services, Technical Services, EMB and MGB, Ms. Alyssa Ronnalyn Dumlao of MGB-I was announced as Binibing Kalikasan 2019. While Carl Dion of MGB-I bagged the titled of Ginoong Kalikasan 2019.

Employees and personnel also showcased their wit and talent in the DENR-1 Got Talent portion. DENR-I Key Officials thanked the committees and everyone who participated in organizing the successful event. While MGB-I Regional Director Carlos Tayag commended the active participation of MGB I as they have brought home major titles and prizes. And much more to that, RD Tayag encouraged everyone to be proactive in activities for the protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources. ###
