In line with the celebration of the 122nd Founding Anniversary of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and Mining Month this November 2020, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 1 conducted a Media Forum to discuss issues and concerns in the minerals industry in the Ilocos Region. The said forum is one of MGB-1’s strategy to communicate the government’s plans, programs, projects and activities through the media (print and broadcast). Last year, the MGB central office formally launched its #MineResponsibility campaign to lobby its efforts of the mining industry to inform, educate and communicate the benefits that it gives to the overall economy of the country, and to call for action towards responsible mining.
MGB-1 Key Officials headed by Regional Director Carlos A. Tayag together with Division Chiefs Engr. Renato Rimando (Mine Management Division), Engr. John Ymson (Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division) and Ms. Vilma Vecino (Geosciences Division) answered questions from the press. Also, Ms. Josephine Marrero and Ms. Dedeth Murao from the Integrated Mining Information and Education (I-MINE) in Region I.
