SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – After undergoing External Surveillance Audit last February 2, 2021 conducted by certifying body, National Quality Assurance (NQA), the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 1 has successfully renewed its ISO certification for ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) and transitioned from BSOHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment) to ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational health and safety management systems).
The audit scope included Top Management/MR Audit Context of the Organization Leadership (customer focus/policy/roles and responsibilities), Performance Evaluation (customer satisfaction / management review), Planning (risk/objectives) Internal Audit/CAR/NC Improvement Documents & Records, Human Resources/Training Purchasing/External Providers, Geosciences Operation Mine Management Operation Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Operations.
The said audit aimed to confirm that the management system had been established implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the audit standard; To evaluate the ability of the management system to ensure the client organisation meets applicable statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements; To evaluate the effectiveness of the management system to ensure it is continually meeting its specified objectives; To identify as applicable, areas of the management system for potential improvement.
NQA Lead Auditor Mr, Rannie Bernardino congratulated MGB Region 1 for being the first government agency recommended for ISO 45001:2018 Certification.
Regional Director Carlos A. Tayag, commended the hardwork, cooperation and persistence of all MGB Region 1 employees to achieve and deliver excellence in the processes of the organization while serving the people.
The next ISO Surveillance Audit is scheduled on January 2022.
