ROSARIO, La Union – The Integrated Mining and Information Education in Region 1 (I-MINE) held its General Assembly last July 30, 2021 at the Sealine Beach Resort. The said meeting aimed to discuss accomplishments, activities and projects of I-MINE in the previous year up to present. Some of these were the use of unutilized funds of Social Development and Management Programs (SDMPs) of mining companies to support affected impact and non-impact communities in the Ilocos Region. Several companies came up with strategic programs such as provision food packs, hygiene kits to their host communities.
The I-MINE has been a vital part in the promotion of the #MineResponsibility campaign in all platforms.
MGB 1 Regional Director Socrates G. Gaerlan thanked the I-MINE for continuously being part of the dynamic group of environmental partners in the promotion of sustainable and responsible mining in the region. In his message, he mentioned that their programs, projects and activities such as the I-MINE Gazette, IEC Campaigns, Radio and TV broadcasts and partnerships with local government units have established and paved way in bringing positive changes conducive to sustainable development for everyone in the minerals industry.
I-MINE Advisers from the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division and Environment and Natural Resources Officers from the four provinces also joined the said activity.
