The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 1 conducted a validation on the Bamboo Plantation established in Baranagay Tavora East, Pugo, La Union by Mathew O. Liis and RJ Flores Construction-Rosario to support the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This is in connection with the instruction of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu to establish and maintain bamboo plantation equivalent to ten percent (10%) of the mined-out areas of Contractors/Permit Holders.
Last March 23, 2021, a Letter of Agreement was signed by the mentioned permit holders who agreed to provide funds for the CY 2021 Bamboo Plantation Program based on the approved Annual Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (AEPEP) CY 2021 following the ENGP guidelines.
On August 6, 2021, a validation of propagated bamboo propagules with technical personnel from the ENGP and MGB Region 1 and Permit holders (MRFC Bauang - Felix Sanchez at Julius Dumpit MRFC Naguilian - RJF naguilian, karlo flores, conrado ignacio, Northpoint Agrregates Inc. MRFC Rosario - Destiny Mighty Rock Corportation, RJF Rosario, Mathew Liis) with barangay officials was done. A total of 9200 bamboo plants have been propagated in the area established for the bamboo plantation.
