SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – In preparation for the nationwide budget proposal for MGB Regional Offices, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 1 conducted a Strategic Planning and Budget Proposal Workshop last February 14, 2023 at the Dencio’s Bar & Grill Restaurant.


 MGB 1 Regional Director Socrates Gaerlan emphasized that effective planning should be implemented for it allows effective communication and efficient use of time and effort in the organization.

The discussion included the targets to be accomplished per Division and organized the staffing per program to have a harmonious work flow in the submission of reports and accomplishments.

Budget Officer Rosabel Gacayan discussed considerations on FY 2023 Budget Preparation to help and assist divisions on their budget planning.

Further, Planning Officer Ms. Christine Tungpalan reiterated the regular and timely submission of means of verification (MOV) in all of the accomplishments. She added that strict monitoring accomplishment is already implemented amongst all the Divisions. The budget for the programs was presented for the Divisions to know how to properly utilize the funds.


Each division presented their 2023 proposed targets, training and travel plan and annual procurement plan. This also included the Gender and Development Focal Point System, Youth Desk Committee, Senior Citizen & Persons with Disabilities Committee and MGBEA.

A workshop was done for the Division Chiefs and Section Chiefs for their submission of their Annual Procurement Plan and Training Plan.
